    Baden-Baden Theatre

One of the most beautiful theatre buildings in Germany

A modern theatre in a historic setting with red velvet and golden boxes: The Paris Opera was the inspiration for the Baden-Baden Theatre, which opened in 1862. The programme includes classics, recent discoveries and contemporary plays. Once a year, the stage is given over to the SWR3 New Pop Festival. The theatre is also a popular wedding venue.

There's a long tradition of culture in Baden-Baden

Among the most famous musicians drawn to the city are Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann, Johann Strauss, Sergei Rachmaninov and the "Devil's Violinist&#8221 - Paganini. The writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky immortalised himself as a tragic figure in the history of Baden-Baden in his novel "The Gambler". Even before him, Romantic writers such as Ludwig Tieck came - not so much for the spa, but out of enthusiasm for the wildly romantic surroundings of Baden-Baden with its ruins and waterfalls. Many magnificent mansions where artistic salons were held still exist.

Pop Culture - SWR3 New Pop Festival

Every autumn, Baden-Baden turns into New Pop City

A number of major stars launched their careers at the SWR3 New Pop Festival. Baden-Baden is barely recognisable during the festival. The streets, cultural institutions and bars are transformed into pop music venues.

    Summer stages in Baden-Baden

    Outdoor performances on balmy nights

Open-air highlights include two enchanting, romantic concerts by the Philharmonie in the Baden-Baden Rose Gardens. The concert shell in front of the Kurhaus is the venue for free open-air concerts throughout the summer - from classical music to hot tropical rhythms you can dance to. Summer evenings could hardly be more enjoyable. And in winter, Christmas music is performed in the concert shell.

    Cultural events at other venues

    Small and sophisticated

In addition to glamorous big-name events, Baden-Baden also hosts smaller impressive top-class cultural events such as matinees featuring up-and-coming artists in the Festspielhaus, chamber concerts in the Museum Frieder Burda or poetry slams in the LA8. Fans of rock music meet at the Blues Club in the Goldener Löwen.
